Your final blog entry for my class. Aren't you sad? :D I sincerely hope that all my students leave my classroom with more Microsoft Office skills than they did back in August. My goal hasn't been to drill and test you over concepts, but for you to realize that MS Office isn't just a program to use for school projects, but for all aspects of your current and future life. Also, I hope each of you will leave with a better understanding of the business world from starting your own business to having better work ethics. Thanks to you all for your dedication as Coffee Geek Squad employees. If only a real job was this easy....right? I was entirely too slack with it this semester and didn't stay on top of the paychecks like I should have. My fault.
On a more personal note, I've truly enjoyed having you all (yes, even those of ya'll that loved annoying me on purpose...you know who you are). Besides the computer applications you've learned in here, I hope that I've made a positive impact on your life in some way. While I've made it clear that I'm not sure I am going to retire in education, I do enjoy my job. I love getting to know you all. You all supply me with tons of humorous stories to share outside of school. One of the main reasons I became a teacher was for the chance to impact teenagers' lives. Life is more than just a party. Make something of yourself!
If you ever need someone to help you get your goals back in perspective or just listen to you, drop by C305 (preferably on my planning and not while I have another class though!) and I'll give you some good advice. For those graduating, go for it! I have faith in you.
For the last blog, answer these questions:
1. What project do you think taught you the most this semester?
2. How do you like blogging? Do you plan to continue with your blog eventhough I'm not going to be posting topics for you to blog about?
3. What did you learn from the Coffee Geek Squad project? What changes do I need to make?
4.Business Plan: Was it helpful to watch the Peter Perfect episodes throughout the semester? Did they teach you anything? Do you think you will use your plan to start your own business one day?
5. Any other comments?

How was your Thanksgiving break? What all did you do? etc.
I've had a great, much enjoyed break. I had several cakes last weekend and a wedding. Then, I left on Sunday headed to Asheville, NC to see the Biltmore House. I got home late Tuesday night and relaxed for the next 2 days around home. Then, some friends & I got up right after 5 AM Friday morning to go to Jacksonville shopping for the weekend. We got home Saturday night just in time for 5th weekend church services.

FBI Arrests Dozens for Phishing ID Theft Scheme
Wednesday, October 07, 2009
LOS ANGELES — The FBI is arresting dozens of people in the United States and overseas to crack an identity theft ring that victimized thousands of people.
Laura Eimiller, an FBI spokeswoman in Los Angeles, says agents are making arrests Wednesday morning in Southern California, Nevada, North Carolina and overseas.
She says about 100 arrests are expected, many in the Los Angeles area.
Eimiller says an indictment accuses the suspects of running a "phishing" scheme. They allegedly used computer intrusion and fraud to obtain personal information that allowed them to withdraw money from bank accounts.
In "phishing," people answering an e-mail are directed to a bogus Web site where they are asked to update personal information, such as passwords and account numbers.
Blog Topic: What is identity theft? Should an individual serve criminal time for this type violation?

Psalm 61 (KJV)
1Hear my cry, O God; attend unto my prayer.
2From the end of the earth will I cry unto thee, when my heart is overwhelmed: lead me to the rock that is higher than I.
3For thou hast been a shelter for me, and a strong tower from the enemy.
4I will abide in thy tabernacle for ever: I will trust in the covert of thy wings. Selah.
5For thou, O God, hast heard my vows: thou hast given me the heritage of those that fear thy name.
6Thou wilt prolong the king's life: and his years as many generations.
7He shall abide before God for ever: O prepare mercy and truth, which may preserve him.
8So will I sing praise unto thy name for ever, that I may daily perform my vows.
The passage above is my favorite chapter in the Bible and after last week, it was a lot of encouragement for me this weekend. Do you have a favorite Bible verse, poem, book, etc. that always encourages you?

What are your thoughts on Parker's actions at the home?
A 19-year-old was nabbed for allegedly burglarizing a West Virginia home, after the victim noticed he used her computer to check his Facebook account, The Journal reported.
Jonathan G. Parker was arraigned Tuesday on one count of felony daytime burglary, the Martinsburg, W. Va. newspaper reported.
Parker, of Fort Loudoun, Pa., asked a friend of the victim if they wanted to help break into the home a night before the alleged burglary, according to the newspaper.
That friend told the victim that he knew where Parker was staying after she reported two diamond rings missing from the same room where the computer was located and noticed cabinets in her garage were open, the newspaper reported.
If convicted Parker faces one - 10 years in jail.

What did you do this weekend?
My weekend was super busy. I got up before 6 AM on Saturday morning to have a yard sale with my sister and cousin behind Holt's Bakery. I sold about $115, so it was a success since all I took was clothes and shoes mostly. Then, Saturday night, I went to Valdosta with some friends. Instead of going to church yesterday, I had to make a quick trip to Atlanta. I finally got in bed after 1 AM last night, so I'm a bit tired today. (Pic is from wedding in Tennessee last weekend.)
